A split second in base running can make quite the difference between being safe or out. Base runners need speed, footwork, flexibility, mobility, quick firing muscles, and stability. The team that is able to produce runs by using base running skills and speed has a great advantage.




Speed Training with the Myosource Kinetic Bands

Speed training for base running is an essential part of baseball training. The Myosource Kinetic Bands are a great training tool for baseball players to increase strength in the legs, hips, and core for better speed and explosive power. 

Try these speed training drills:

Create a start and finish drill with two cones or two bases. Put on the Myosource Kinetic Bands and work on leading off and base stealing. The first key is to anticipate when you will be making your move. A proper crossover step to begin your acceleration and dig phase is the first part to building speed for base stealing. This drill is for the purpose of utilizing the resistance to build speed, as well as improving response time. The second key is to continue driving the legs during your sprint phase of the base stealing process. This drill is primarily for developing a quick crossover step and speed for base stealing. 

A hot box situation is a great way to work on quick feet and change of direction while wearing the Myosource Kinetic Bands. Have the runner do this for 2-3 hot box throws with resistance, then again without resistance.

Home to First: Another great drill is working on your home plate to first base speed. Best results come from simulating swinging the bat, working on first-step, and working on running full speed all the way through first base at 100%
